Sparrow ID, please

Man, it is tough to tell what some of these birds are - so close with markings. I'm going to guess song sparrow, but if I'm wrong, what do I look for to ID?

Song Sparrow, no doubt. The marks to the right and left below the beak are dead giveaways. What a beautiful call they have.

Nice collection, the redpoll and purple fine look great on the birch. I am learning to identify a lot of new birds this spring that I never really took notice of before. I wouldn't of had an idea on the song sparrow either.

Nice shots. I havn't seen red polls for ages. we ha a gazillion come through about 10 years ago. They must just fly thru.
