Lower Unit Capacity

Trying to find info for my boat captain. 1990 Evinrude E90TL. What would the lower unit gear grease capacity be? He said he put 3 pints in it and it hasn't come out the top hole yet. We live 30 miles apart so I haven't been able to see what/how he's doing but seems it should be full. Put more in????

Not sure on the capacity of that motor, but when I do mine I've always just kept adding until the oil comes out the top hole. For some reason or another I want to say it's a couple quarts, or even a few for our yamaha, I have noticed though that if your not using some sort of pump, there seems to be quite a bit left in each quart.

I guess I've never really paid attention to the capacity either. I just fill until it comes out the top hole and call it good.

Thanks for the replies. He called and said he started putting another pint in and it started running out the top hole. Almost a 3/4 pint left over.
