MrSenarighi
Does anyone know if you can convert your portable depth finders for open water to use for ice fishing? Can you use the normal transducer?
jimBo
Depending on the unit you should be able to.Getting it level is your main consern.(ducer)And what you want it to do for you.Should work just fine to find the bottom, drops. Guest
I have a Piranha portable and to level the transducer I mounted it to a section of 1/2 in pvc tied the cable with small tie straps,I used screw together couplers so I can add more sections as the ice gets thicker, I can drop it down through 5 ft of ice with all sections on, even though I havn't used all of them yet.I mounted an orange handled wood clamp from menards on top, and clamp it to the hole cover in my Frabill Venture and it sits very level. Seems to work good so far.Hope this helps.------------------Don't worry you'll get the next one.
