How bad?

The truck is a 95 Toyota 4runner. As I was driving it today, the Rear anti-lock light came on on the dash. How big of a problem is this and can I keep driving the vehicle?

The light is a generic symbol that only represents the fact that there is a problem with the system. It could literally be anything. It will need to be scanned for codes and then figured out from there. The good news is that the brakes will work as intended, but the ABS will no longer work as long as the light is on.

Ok, now I'm thinking there is a bad connection somewhere because I ran an errand and the light was off.

Thats entirely possible. Midsized GM's like the Cavalier, Sunfire, Grand Am where notorious for ABS lights coming on when it was wet out. 9 times out of 10 it was one of the rear hub/bearing/ABS sensor assemblies.

And its back on again...

Hopefully soon I'll bring it somewhere were they can hook up the sensor and tell me whats wrong. Hopefully its something I can fix.

It may even be as simple as a dirty sensor. A truck I used to drive got brake dust and other debris on it often and tripped the light. I just sprayed it off with brake cleaner and it would be fine. Though I will admit, I have no idea how yours is set up.
