Refrigerator Problem?

onthejob2

Question

A buddy of mine is having problems with his frig. The freezer is working fine, but the frig section is basically at room temp? He has checked the temp. settings and also made sure the door wasn't left open. The frig is about 6 years old. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Is the door seal any good? This is a commmon culprit. Take a peice of paper and shut the door on it. It should be difficult to move the paper up and down with the door shut on it. Many seals also fail right in the corner, so the door appears shut, but the corner is wide open and the fridge ends up warm.

If this is the deal it's a fairly cheap and quick fix.

No expert here, but sounds like the freezer is frozen up not letting the chilled air get to the fridge. Possibly a fan out as well? I'd take the backing off the inside of the freezer compartment to see if you can determine what is or isn't going on.

I'm sure a more educated response will come later, but I had an older one do this.
