Hornady 44Magnum LeveRevolution Flex Tips

Has anyone used/shot these yet. I hunt with a Ruger Redhawk for bear and deer and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on these before I go out and spend my own money! grin.gif

Right now I just use the American Eagle hollow points and that works fine, but I'm always looking for something better.

My understanding of the LeveRevolution ammo is that it's real purpose is to allow the use of spire point (pointed tip) ammo in tube fed lever guns. In the past all lever guns had to use ballistically inferior flat tipped bullets for fear of discharging all the bullets in the tube on recoil if pointed tip bullets were used. The problem being that the pointed tip of one bullet would be resting against the primer of the bullet ahead of it.

For your revolver bullet tip design doesn't matter. You'd probably be spending few extra bucks for the same performance you could get at a cheaper price. I'd shoot what ever patterned best out of your gun.

Thanks Hubercita,

I know why they came up with the LeveRevolution, but for '08 they are coming out with .357 and .44 mag handgun ammo with the same concept. They(Hornady) say a bunch of mumbo-jumbo marketing stuff about how their particular bullet also performs better with the flex-tip. I'm just wondering if it's all hype or if someone has actually tested it themselves....before I go and buy a couple of boxes (which I'll probably do anyway).
