northernsportman
yeah i am around the gr area, i have caught a few but thats later in the summer havent really tried it early... want to get into bowfishing too
demonjigger
usually they catch them in the prairie river on hwy 2 towards duluth. Just fish on the southwest side of the bridge. bowfishing depends on the run, I have shot them in the prairie by the lake later, rocks are tough on the fish heads though... northernsportman
im not sure, are you talking about the bridge heading to bovey/coleraine or the other one? If not have you ever tried it there
demonjigger
The one on hwy 2 outside of laprarie. the one going to bovey is pretty shallow. if you go up hwy 38 and turn east on co rd 61 is another place to try(ski hill road, coleraine cut across) that is where i have shot them with my bow. r u going to school up here? northernsportman
yeah, i have been living hear all my life and just love to get out fishing and hunting. I know exactly where you are talking about far as the places. A friend of mine tried shooting the one by the ski hill but he said he was too late for the run last year. demonjigger
later in the summer the strech from the dam to the hwy 169 bridge can be good for shooting fish. Take a canoe or small boat and float the edges of the river. polarized glasses and sunscreen are required, good luck.

DEADhead
White suckers typically enter the rivers to spawn when water temps reach 50 degrees.
Tyler Holm
Last year we started to do really well in the 2nd week of April down here in Roch. I suspect it will be a little later this year.
DEADhead
I looked back at last year's journal/blog and I was catching suckers on the 17, 24 and 27 of April in the Detroit Lakes area. I hope the run is not pushed back a couple of weeks because that will start putting it into May and I can't wait that long...
sparcebag
Last year on this date the temp was 65,on the 25th it was 74,and the 26th it was 83,we have 12" which settled yesterday to 6" of snow, from the snow last Fri.Think the nothern & sucker runs will be delayed,Hopefully the notherns will start end of this week with warmer temps and it should make this snow melt & flow.We had no snow left on the ground and I'm thinkin were gonna be hurtin for water in lakes & streams again this year. The lake I'm on is right now 16" below its early spring late winter normal level.
