0 ice_it_06
The charger has been on it for about 1 1/2 hours from 40%.It shows 50%, I unplug it the meter shows and holds 100% ?The charger is real warm to the touch, much more then normal I believe. You might be right on a bad cell. Think I'll toss in my spare from the camera.
0 eurolarva
Does your LX 3 have the DCS charging system? If so did you leave it connected all season? I trashed a battery doing this. If you suck a battery dry it will never come back no matter how long you put a charge on it. If you have a DCS and do not use the flasher either leave the charger hooked up all the time or disconnect the DCS during long storage The LED display on the DCS drains the battery over a long period of time. I put a new battery on mine this season and I get about 8 hours of continuous run time and the DCS says it is still 100 percent however when I plug the charger up it drops to 40 percent. Going much lower then 40 percent on a battery is not a good thing and it should be charged immediately.
0 ice_it_06
Mine is the Lx-3tc with the DCS. It's unhooked during the summer and charged up a couple times while in storage.During the season it's charged immediately after each use which is usually 4 - 5 hours twice a day. I only fish in a perm so weather is never a factor."the number levels on the DCS are my concern as they don't appear to reflect the true charge level"The battery is two years old so I'm going to get a new one and see what happens the next couple weeks. 0 eurolarva
If you can nurse it through the season it would be best to buy a fresh battery at the beginning of the season instead at the end. If you have hand held volt meter test the voltage a couple hours after the charge. You can look it up on the internet but I believe a full charge is 12.7V and when you get to 12.4 you are only getting about 60 percent of full charge. The test should be done waiting at least two hours for the battery to cool down. Normally as soon as you disconnect the charger a battery will read over 13 volts till it stabilizes.
