Scott M
Everett Withers left for an assistant job in North Carolina, despite being one of the game's highest paid assistant coaches. The U's director of football operations Randy Taylor also has left. The Speculation is that Nebraska's former defensive coordinator, that got fired by Osborne so fast his head spun, is expected to be offered the job. I sure as heck hope that isn't true. Brewster better find someone that can coach now that he has some athletes coming in. That Nebraska defense was putrid, not unlike the Gophers this past year. HuskerBen
Ha! I hadn't heard that Kevin Cosgrove might come to MN. If I were a die-hard Gopher fan, my lip would be starting to quiver and I'd be looking for a place to quietly sob to myself. Nebraska's defense was a strong unit up until Cosgrove took over the DC spot. Check into Wisconsin's history, too. You won't like Cosgrove. Defenses look good both before and after he is there, but not during. Granted, Nebraska plays in the Big 12, which is a tougher conference than the Big 10. But there is no excuse for allowing that many points, that many yards, that many losses. Man, if that's true... I'm really sorry, Gopher fans. Really sorry. fishn4kids
I will second that!!! Really sorry if cosgrove is hired. He CAN NOT coach. Good luck if he does. Duane
tisosy11
Gophers need a new head coach? Just think...his son might have came to Minnesota...if he wanted to be here longer than his dad...
beer batter
Ted Roof is the new defensive coordinator for the Gophers. He came from Duke which has an illustrious history, just not in football.Did some reading about this guy though, and he may be alright. More recently he was the head coach of Duke where he didn't progress things all that well. Prior to that though, he seems to have been a pretty decent defensive coordinator. He used to coach the Ramblin Reck of Georgia Tech where he was nominated as the nation's top assistant coach. As I recall those Georgia Tech teams had some pretty good defenses. I'm kind of a Homer though, so time will tell.
