Exterior Boat Lights?

I don't know where you're heading with your idea to light up the lake around you at night, but just in case you're thinking about this I'll point out that using artificial lights to attract fish is illegal. It's spelled out in fishing regs in case you want to read the specifics.

I troll at night quite a bit and like to keep it as dark as possible. I have my running lights on but no interior lights. We use headlamps and clip lights as our primary source of light, with a strong maglight and a spotlight for finding channels and docking, and occasionally for netting fish. I think anything else that would light up the lake would cause way too much glare in the boat???

I fish mille lacs a lot and the last thing you want is a lot of external fish for all those Boat Fisherman out there! I have a hard enough time Trying to be bymyself more than anything. But to answer your question I but some LED lights to install inside my boat. I tapped the wires that lead to the Running lights so I always have power to these lights. One side of the switch turns on RED and the other White light! this is very handy if you do alot of night fishing! I also carry a 15million candle power spot light on board just in case!
