Tying Bucktail Jigs?

Anyone do it? Any tips? What kind of string to use, what knots to use? Thanks for the help guys!

I tied a bunch back in my college days to make a few extra bucks for a lure manufacture.

Go to a library and get a lure making book.. they should have the knots needed.. they are just loop over knots.

The hardest part of tieing hair jigs is getting the hair the right length, and keeping it straight around the hook and even. It will take some practice, but is quite fun to make your own stuff when you get good at it.

I would suggest you ask this question in the fly tieing forum we have. Those guys and gals, could point you in the right direction.

A long time ago I took a swing at it too. Too time consuming for me now, so I just buy them from Tim Hutchison. If you go to his HSOforum, you can at least get an idea on color combos for DIY'r.
