HnB
there is no ice road over treaty this year so no one is fishing there. pay close attention to the restrictions on lake trout. most areas are no bait, single hook and others are fish sanctuaries. A white tube jig is all you need for trout. caught a 17 lb laker on Lake of the Woods the other day. You can see the video on Youtube. HnB
Kenora, Lake of the Woods update:We now have over 2 feet of ice out there now and there is a road plowed over Treaty Island. you can drive your car from kenora to Northwest Angle on ice. A lack of snow and cold temps is allowing a 4x4 to access the reefs that only a snowmobile could usually get to.
Hemlock
Reef fishing has been great. Did 3 days down towards the NW Angle and we averaged 50 fish days. Sunday was about 100 fish/person/day. Not bad.Fishing on humps closer to Kenora has been good too. Went out for an hour yesterday afternoon and caught and released 6 nice walleyes. (2 17"ers, 4 15"ers)We needed that cold, even though it was quite unpleasant to fish/snowmobile in. It's now firmed up the lake very nicely and the warmer temps are on their way back in.
