HD Projector TV ??s

I have a front projection tv, if I am saying that right...it has the movie screen on the wall and the projector behind the viewer. Anyway, it is HD, but I have Dish Network. What I want to know, is there a way to get the local stations, say Fox during the BCS game, in HD? On my LCD tv, the high def local stations can be obtained by switching off the Dish Net, and going through the television to get the HD. With the projector, I don't have the same capability, or do I? I hope this isn't confusing and hope some of you tv techs can steer me in the right direction.

Local stations really stink for clarity on the big screen when they aren't in HD. They are not that great on the LCD tv's either.

I'm not clear on how you are receiving the HD channels on the LCD TV and what you mean by "switching off the Dish Net". I can only assume you are using an antenna for the HD locals and you switch inputs on the TV to go back and forth between Dish Net and the locals on the LCD?

I'm using an antenna to receive the HD locals. On my Dish Net receiver there is a coax input for the roof antenna so it blends right in with the rest of the programming. I have the DVR-622 receiver.

On my Samsung LCD, I am changing to source, to antenna, to get the local stations in HD. On my projection TV, I don't have that option, although I never really looked at it. We just moved to a new house and the projection tv came with it. I don't have an external antenna on the house, just using the (I assume) built in antenna for HD on the LCD.

Not knowing what Dish Net receiver you have, I'd look on the back of it to see if it has an antenna input and move the antenna wire from the LCD to the Dish Net receiver if it has such an input. I'm assuming that you feed the Dish Net signal to the projector as well, and if so, then you can use the Dish Net receiver to view the locals via the antenna input as I have mine set up. This makes it seamless and there is no source-switching required as the Dish Net receiver merges the antenna input with the satellite programming. The only thing lacking is the program guide information for the locals since I'm using an antenna rather than paying the extra fee to Dish Net for the locals.

If there is an antenna input on the dish box as LMITOUT suggests, and if it has an ATSC tuner in it, you should be good.

If not, you will need a separate device that includes an ATSC tuner to get OTA HD signals.
