Tim_Anderson
I've been trying to predator hunt up here in north central Minnesota for a couple of years on and off with little success. I'm thinking it's just because there probably aren't much for numbers....I think we've got more wolves than fox and yote, but a client this summer from Nebraska offered to let me hunt his land of roughly 10,000 acres if I wanted to come down. I think it's in the Platte River country (north central?). I'm thinking about making the trip. Anybody have any insights as to the area, populations, techniques, hunting pressure, etc.? I've got a .22-250 and am itching to break it in on some vermin! Thanks for any help.
prov1900
If it is around the Platte River, then your area will be more south central. Don't think you'll have problems with the population. Nebraska is thick with coyotes, all over. Electronic calls will be your best bet, but I am sure you can get it done with mouth calls as well. Wide open areas for long range shooting, plus if the river is froze over, then that will give you a nice shooting lane. Can only speculate that you won't have a lot of competition from other hunters. Good luck.
