Automatic Fisherman!

I know most of you guys know about this thing. I learned about it on here my self.

Senerio:

A guy at work was cruising the internet. He see’s a great “new” thing. Its called the automatic fisherman. He falls in love with it. He buys “on-line” two for him self and buys four for his two sons for Christmas. Spends a pretty penny on six units. A month or so down the line, he is talking with a fellow co-worker (me) and starts telling me about this new thing he can not wait to use. I tell him its illegal in the state of MN. He doubts me. We call DNR 651 number on speaker phone together. Very nice gals says “yes we have had calls about this device” and “yes it illegal to use in the state of MN waters”, she also goes on to say it is a form of impaling fish and this is why it is illegal.

In the end, he is stuck with 6 about $40 a piece rod holders, that can not be set. I do not think he has tried returning them. Bought them off e-bay and is still in shock and hoping for legislature to over turn the law that makes this device illegal. I think he is calling state rep.

I know most all of use know about this, but I figure I would throw out another FYI, so fellow F.M.res do not find them selves stuck with something they can not use or worse, get caught using something illegal, that they did no know about.
