PS 2 Problem can someone help

I have a PS 2 and for the last 2 months it will play movies but won't play any games. Any body have and idea whats wrong?

on my first ps2 the same thing happened. i heard that there are 2 different lenses, and the one that reads games might be broken. dont know if it was true, but i just got a new one after that anyways.

is it the original or the slim if? its the original I hate to say it but it might be shot

Yes it's the slim and thats what I have heard that the game lense might be shot. Well the kids wanted a PS 3 looks like we might have to get one. Thanks for the help
