MIKE IN lINO III
Not sure where to post this, I figure here because alot of lawn guys also plow. I want to bring my plow to the lake and plow the driveway problem is it is 200 miles away. Does it damage the truck and or plow to drive it for that distance???I was thinking of putting the plow on the trailer and then just putting it on the truck once we arrive at the lake but it might be too much of a hassle. What do you guys think? Thanks, Mike
Powerstroke
No problem at all really. Most guys don't remove their plows for the entire season. I would also compare it to those who have heavy duty bumpers on the front of their trucks. They can be a couple hundred pounds and they do just fine. At the city I work for we leave the plows on the 1 ton trucks all season. They are the Western Ultramounts and a couple Blizzrd plows which are quite heavy. No ill effects seen. LwnmwnMan2
What setup do you have??For what it's worth, I'll drive 'forward & backward' about 150 miles each time it snows, by the time I drive to each account and the amount of forward / back at each one. setterguy
One thing to watch for is to make sure the plow is riding low enough to get proper air flow into the engine so you don't over heat. I had a truck that would run pretty hot when I was on the highway because the plow was deflecting all the air away from the grill. Other than that I wouldn't see a problem. Powerstroke
Great comment about the airflow setter. I typically adjust the plow so it doesn't get so high it blocks the lights/signals and that there is airflow to the radiator.
