How does a person go about finding a suspected gas leak in their fish house?

We used the house up at Ripley & everything worked fine, but we could smell a little gas when the heater was going & the cook stove was off. The shutoff valve in the line to the cook stove was closed. When the cook stove was going too we didn't notice it. Naturally we kept a couple of windows partly open, but I'm thinking it needs to be looked into. Right now my carbon monoxide detector's been beeping with it sitting in the yard. The propane tank's valve is shutoff, so that doesn't really make sense. I would think if it was the battery getting low it wouldn't be able to beep every minute for a few days straight, but maybe. I haven't used the house in a month, but obviously hope to soon.

Soapy water on the gas lines will tell you all you need to know. Where it makes bubbles there is a leak.

to check for a gas leak you are going to want to take dish soap and maybe some water and mix them together and put in some sort of cup/container. Then take a paint brush and put a thin coating on the gas lines. oops, you'll want to turn the gas on before you start coating. If there is a gas leak, it will bubble at the sight of the leak. If you were smelling gas when the heater was on and the valve to the stove was off, another possible source could be a bad valve.

I watched old resort workers check rentals houses for leaks with a lighter. Do not do that.

Like boiler said, use soapy water, or if you want to spend money, buy some leak finder in a can.

It is a dead battery (going dead). Change battery and it stop and detector will work when needed.

Bigbucks, if your detector beeps once in a minute or longer it means it's a dead battery.

Get a spray bottle and some soapy water-

I use windshield washer and soap if it's freezing outside.

Find some one that has a "sniffer" for finding AC leaks. They find propane leaks real well also.
