Any Reports From Winnie This Weekend?

I'm leaving for Cut Foot on Thursday and would like to know if anyone has any reports from this weekend. Ice Thickness, Clarity and luck.

My dad's group of 8 jabbed 21 total in the two days. Most of them eaters with the biggest being 34".

I didnt get a chance to get over there this weekend,we were all packed up and ready to go on friday when my wife ended up in the hospital(blood pressure to high)When she got out on sat.afternoon it was just to late to go!She wanted to go,but I wanted her to rest,tomorrows another day!

my brother and i will going there this sat for first time so i need help what kind of decoy is best for and what color also how big? thanks for reply asap

I think anytime you are targeting larger pike you need to go with a traditional red and white, it has got some decent ones with that decoy.

Believe it or not, i have never speared on winnie, but from the guys that i talk to all the time about it, say that red/white or orange have been the best colors for them up there. Again, it all has to do with the spot of the lake on where you set up, but from the stories that i have heard, it dont take much to spear monsters up there.

I Have fished winnie for over 50 years, the best decoy I have used is a red and white about 9 or 10 ins. long, 2nd best, a perch decoy about 7 ins. long, this is not a cheap plastic one. 3rd best plastic northern, either the 5 in. or the 9 in, a 10 in copper , made out of real copper, decoy, and last a live sucker about 8 - 10 in. long. those are my choices and I;m sticking to them.

My group of seven just got back from Winnie. We fished Friday-Sunday. We saw a lot of fish mostly small but did manage to pull a 32" and a couple right in that ball park. I would say the average house had ten fish a day come into the hole. Pretty good luck. and the clarity was better than the past few years.

The red and white is home made, so are the copper and perch.

Covey - where did you guys go out of ? Were you on the Third River? Just wondering how many houses etc. if that's where you were. We're going up right after first of year. We're staying at Dixon Lake Resort.
