Hummingbird Birdtrap good buy?

Hey Everyone,

I have the opportunity for a old school birdtrap flasher. I know technology hasn't change much for flashers and that is one of the reasons they hold their value so well but I can get a good used Hummingbird it looks like the old super sixty, I don't know what comes with it et if battery charger and ducer are included but for $20 bucks can I go wrong? Previous owner says he used it last year for ice fishing and doesn't need it anymore because he just uses tipups for pike, anything I should be looking for or does anyone know of another old flasher that would be good for someone who doesn't want to invest a lot into one? Anything would be great.

A battery and charger will run you 20-25 beans. If it does'nt have the 'ducer you may have a hard time finding one. Maybe scour thru hsolist and try and get your hands on a Zercom Clearwater Classic thats all set and ready for the ice and maybe in your price range. I sold one of mine a coupla years back w\o battery for sixty beans. Those old 4 shade Zercoms work darn well too.

Check the for sale forums, papers , hsolist etc. and see if anyone is selling a old FL-8. Should be able to score one cheap. If that Hummingbird has a ducer give it a shot. For $20 its worth a try.

By the way flashers have come a long long way since that hummingbird was 1st made.

Alright, looking possibly at a few Zercom's that I found. They are the colorpoint. I know I have read on the interference but I no one else that I fish with uses electronics so shouldn't have a problem. What are the pros and cons about this flasher? Are they are tri-color displays b/c a few of the pictures I have seen I only saw two colors. Anything will help I believe the wife is going to let me get one soon! So WooHoo!
