Snowmobiling on State or Federal Land

Scott M

Question

I also posted this in snowmobile users, thought it might get picked up faster here:

So I'm not a snowmobiler but am wondering about accessing a lake that is 3/4 of a mile back in. It's on land held by the state of minnesota. Another lake in a different spot is on federal land in the chippewa national forest. Can I lawfully take a snowmobile back into either of these spots?

Thanks.

DEpends on how that state land is designated. "SNA"; no way. State forest? Good to go. WMA I'm not positive about, but I believe that is parcel specific. I'd call the sheriff in that area and get the word from the guy who would arrest you if you are wrong.

I can say whatever I want, but I'm not capable of issuing you a ticket smile.gif
