rear driveshaft help (pics added)

anybody know how to get a rear drive shaft out of an Arctic Cat sled? I'm replacing the rear idler wheels and have both outer idler wheels removed, as well as the outer adjuster bushings. Shouldn't I just be able to slide the shaft through the spacer and the inner adjuster bushings? I tried pounding the shaft through with a rubber mallet and block of wood, but no luck moving the shaft through. Do I need to pound harder, or do I need to loosen the slide rails apart enough to get the driveshaft out. sounds like that would be harder than it needs to be.

on the plus side, with the track tension off, all of the inner idler wheels along the skid are in good shape yet; the only questionable bearings are the outer idler wheels up front that are block mounted on the outside, an easy fix.

here's the microfiche and a pic. I need to slide part #28 back through the tensioner adjustment window inthe slide rail. Far enough to put the new inner idler wheel on. Shouldn't the driveshaft (#28) just slide through the spacers and the bearing/idler wheel? Any advice?
