Crawlerman
Prally a mutation; they are somewhat rare but I have seen a number of them. Albino carp (neat that you can easily spot this one out in a large school) and a tottally black Largemouth bass and Channel Cat. The In-Fisherman had an editorial a few months back on some mutations, with some wacky looking photos (like a walleye that was a bright gold/yellow)
Gissert
We catch some goofy looking fish on my lake in the summertime. I'm told they are a hybrid sunfish, but my brother (T-Bone) calls them "Bassengills". They have a body shape somewhat between a bass and a bluegill, with a bass type mouth. icehousebob
A couple of years ago my brother and I were on the ice at Devil's Lake and my brother caught a good sized perch that was almost a chartruse green. It had very faint stripes and the color was so bright it dang near seemed that it would glow in the dark. He was talking of putting it on the wall, but by the time we left the ice it had faded and just looked rather weird.
Crawlerman
Gissert-- Those are indeed hybrid sunfish. The kind you speak of with the "large mouths" are a mix of a Green Sunfish and a Bluegill. Bluegill/Pumpkinseed sunfish also exsist. The DNR stocks Hybrids in certain lakes in the state, I know of one in particualr. They also rarely occur Naturarlly and can reproduce (unlike Tiger Muskies-- so I'm told.) They can look kina pretty too-- espically if they have the whitish trim on their fins and tails.
