walleyes

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I fish on this lake here is Saskatchewan that has super summer walleye fishing. On any given summer day you can linit out on walleye but when winter comes nobody seems to catch them. The deepest part of the lake is 12 ft, as all it is is a dammed up river and is quite murky. There are no rocks or much for structure. The places that seem to hold walleye in summer never hold them in winter. I use rapala swimming jigs, hauger spoons, sweedish pimples and have no luck. I think the only way I may find some is if I buy a flasher and hunt them down that way but what do you guys think? Please help a young rookie out!!

Norco,

Try fishing exclusively with Tip-ups. Ok, you can jig. However fishing shallow, should be a focus, especially in a shallow res.

Try to key in on flats or slow current areas adjacent to the main channel. If you know of any natural "tie-down" areas near deeper water I would place tip-ups near the top of that structure and jig near the bottom.

Obvious, this is only one approach, but give it a try and let me know if it helped!

Keep the rods bendin' and the flags flyin' high!!!

swedish pimple on a tip-up? smile.gif get some colored plain hooks and tip them with a fathead or shiner, set em out where there are any kind of drop or weed or anything. if you finally get a flag somewhere, maybe try jigging in it that night or the next night and see what is up. just remember that walleyes usually bite right at sundown, if they dont they usually bite at some point, on some lakes i have heard em biting at like 2 i the morning. try finding small perch also, if u can find them chances are there will be walleyes around. if nothin else maybe hire a guide for one day or something. good luck finding em

yea they might migrate out of there. i know alot of rivers that are great half the year but once it gets to be migrating time for them they are nowhere to be seen. if there is a ledge or anything at the **** they might just plop over it
