creating turkey decoy stakes

Hey guys,

I've got 3 foam hen decoys I just got when Maplewood Gander closed it down.

Got a great deal on them, like 6 bucks a bird, but no stakes.

I was just wondering, what can I do for stakes? I want to use some dowels, am I stuck whittling sharp points for the metal ring on the top of the decoy to spin on?

Anyone with advice or experience please chime in.

They do sell replacement stakes. Otherwise old aluminum arrow shafts work also.

I saw them at fleet farm yesterday. Sounds easier and cheaper than making them.

I'd agree, especially the ones that fold-up/break-down. Would be more difficult engineering that part yourself, and I think that's quite crucial.
