Chippewa Flowage in early October

74mph

Recommended Posts

We are headed out to the chip again the first week in october to try and move some Skis. Our last trip was in early July with little luck. I moved three fish two on a rad dog and one on a 12" Believer working it top water style. All three fish came off of reed points near deep water.

Can anyone give me any advice on what works in the chip in the fall. Is it true that the slower the better for wisconsin musky? Any good tips will help.

Thanks guys,

Andy

I'm kinda interested in hearing this as well. I wont be on the flowage, but I'll be on Namakagon that weekend which in some ways is similar (water clarity, irregular shape, etc).

As far as Wisconsin muskies go I have found I get more follows on slower moving baits. However many times I've thrown the same bait back out and either burned it or worked it in faster and triggered strikes after a follow.

Not sure if bumps are against the rules but I'd like some info. I'm sure 74mph would also but he's probably already on the water.

Has anybody here ever fished Namakagon? I'll be visiting an uncle just for the weekend. He's retired and has a home on the lake, but doesn't fish it himself. I only know it through the Wi DNR lake map, and the little other information that site provides (8-10ft secchi this time of year). At over 3000 acres and many miles of shoreline I'd like to narrow the search down a bit.

We are heading out this weekend. It would be nice to get some info on the flowage. I havent fished Nama but I have fished Vermillion. I found alot of fish on the small windblown rock points and reed points, especially when the wind curls around the point. You may find the same thing there. Fish were hitting everything from Radd Dogs to Top Raiders.

Well just got back. Somebody failed to mention that this lake was part of a tourney, maybe that's why they wouldn't give up any info. Didn't spend a whole lot of time on the water but got my throws in. I only managed to catch some small pike (they hammered the big baits though). My younger brother though managed to catch a 40" muskie (surprisingly enough throwing a normal size spoon going after the pike). Overall not a bad trip, as the weather held up nicely. Uncle told us he's seen them caught right out in front of his dock and that one hit 2 docks down. If only it was always that easy.
