Measuring your fat BASS

I'm just wondering if a bass would be longer or shorter measured holding the fish up in the air vs putting it flat on the floor of the boat. I tried to get her back in the water right away and measured her while I was holding it upright. The fish was a hog at 22"(my longest ever but not heaviest) what do you guys think her length would have been if I layed her down on the bottom of the boat and measured? Thanks

OH yeah, she weighed 6.8 lbs. grin.gif

Congrats on the hog.. thats awesome... When measuring a fish.. alomst all I know, and the ones whom make the weight boards do the weight with the mouth closed tail fanned. I'm not sure how you would measure a fish verticle with the mouth closed... A fish, mouth mouth open can be 1" if not more longer than mouth closed. Which is why we have a problem online when someone says they caught a 20" fish then show a pict and it looks more like a 18.5" fish. Not saying your is that way.. a 6.5 oz fish is a 6.5 lb fish no matter its length... If I had to guess, from the fish I have caught in MN.. a normal 6.5lb fish is close to 21.5"

again, congrats on the trophy!.. thats awesome.. got any picts?
