Archery Range

I was driving from Eden Prairie to Shakopee the other day and noticed a archery range at 212 and 101. It seemed to be either within or right next to that WMA down there. Anyone know who runs that or if it's a public range?

I think that is a public range. I recommend the Archery Range at Staring Lake Park. It is on 212 and Prairie Center Drive I think, I would check the web site for directions. This is a really nice public range with about ten 5x5 block targets. You have to walk about fifty yards into the woods. Follow the signs. I've been there a couple of times this year and I usually have the place to myself.

The Staring Lake range is on PIONEER TRAIL west of 212. This is also a public range. It svery nice and clean and they use Block foam targets instead of hay bales.

I don't know of the range near 212 and 101. If its public it would be listed on the Chanhassen city HSOforum.

I think the one you're talking about is on 101 and old 169, right by the old bridge. It is brand new and I think it's public. there is a sign by the access road on the west end of the new bridge.

update, I found an article from the Shakopee paper.

"One of the first to use the new archery range, Kevin Carlson, 14, of Shakopee came down to the river Wednesday afternoon to practice with his dad Rich. Practice targets are up on the new course, located just north of the Minnesota River, on the west side of the County Road 101 bridge. To access the range from downtown Shakopee, go north on County Road 101, turn right into the parking lot and then follow the road underneath the bridge to the other side."

Yeah I heard about that range at Staring Park, I'm thinking about going to check it out tonight. I also got some more information about that range off 101. I heard they plan on making it bigger and having targets out to 90 yards. That would be pretty fun if you ask me.
