Nighttime Help

I know there were some previous post a ways back on this subject. We tried night fishing for the first time this past weekend, we didn't try for to long but managed only 3 bass each night. I was wondering what you guys use for baits and colors that have work best for you. Should i be targeting shallow or deep? And also we had a couple big flashlights along with our boat lights what do you guys use for a good light source? Thanks for any info it will be really helpful.
