coosa
Was thinking about planning a first time trip up near Ely for smallmouth bass fishing. Cannot take vacation from work until then. I'm down in Georgia and know nothing about timing, locations, methods, etc. in Minnesota. Is September too late? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Daze Off
September can be a time to catch some real pigs when it comes to bass of both species in MN - only thing I will add past that is there is a state-wide catch-and-immediate-release of all smallmouth starting Sept. 11th this year.Daze Off
neb.fish
We've done really well on Smallies in September. They start coming into the shallows when the water cools, by shallow I mean 10-12 feet. Thats why the catch and release takes effect the second Tuesday of September, because they become easier to catch. Enjoy.
