Minnetonka Muskie / Pike Report.

So my friend, brother and I decided to take all of sunday to explore one of the many bays on Lake Minnetonka for Bass. Sunday morning we got up early and hit one of the bays. Worked the weeds shallow. By about 11 oclock, we landed betweek the 3 of us, 11 large mouth bass, biggested being 2lb 11oz..

We decided to go try this other bay, which my the way, we nicknamed it Pikes Bay.. haha

Anyways, we get there and fishing the shore lines. We were about 20-30 yards from the shore line in 2-4 ft of water and my brother throws out a senko.. 1st cast on the slow retrieve, SPLASH!!!! BIG PIKE!! Pike missed the worm.. Now we're all excited and started throwing spinners to see if we can get the fish to bite.. Next thing you know, my brother had a STRIKE.. Line goes limp... ( Note from Admin. Please read forum policy before posting again, Thank-You.) Showed him how to tie the line correct... We're all casting and BAM!! he gets another strike but the pike gets off.. By this time I am furious because he keeps managing to lose fish. After about 10 minutes of inactivity, BAM!!! I get a strike, I set the hook, my line goes limp.. Turns out, the pike was attacking up the line as we were doing slow retrieves on the spinners.. My brother looked at me with a satisfied look.. haha.. Now, I felt SHEEPISH.. So this continued and I lost 1 spinner and my brother lost 3 pikes. We all had 10" titanium leaders on so whatever was bitting it was huge... So we decided to work the bay some more and move down... We got about 50 yards down along the shore line and everyone was tired of casting spinners.. I just kept casting and casting. Out of nowhere I see a BIG SPLASH!!!! MUSKIE!!!! But the muskie hit the blade and NOT the spinner!!! I get excited and switched out the spinner to the bright green Muskie Mania spinner.. Few cast later, BAM!!!! He hits but hits it about the leader and my line goes limp.. ( Note from Admin. Please read forum policy before posting again, Thank-You.). This happened once more and I managed to lose 2 nice spinners... So we called it a day..

Came back 3 hours later to work the evening in the same bay.. Within the next 1/2 hour, we got 4 pikes total with this one being the biggest..

Measured 31" and personal biggest so far.

Not as big as some of you guys in here but it was fun catching it on a 7' medium heavy action St. Croix Legend Elite baitcasting bass setup.. haha..
