Lowrance LCX-28hd and Navionics cards

brooksrb

Question

I have a Lowrance LCX-28C HD. I have tried using my Navionics Gold card and the unit cant find it or when it does it locks up the unit and I have to power it up and down. The unit has all the Nauticpath maps on the Hard drive and they work fine.

I fish out of Valdez in Prince William Sound and the Navionics cards have a little better data than the preloaded charts.

Anyone had this happen??

Be nice as this is my first post!!

Go into the menus and find the "Map Data" selection. I think you have to be on the GPS screen to see this option when you hit the Menu key. Check to see what mapping system is selected to be loaded. There are a few options in the drop-down box on that page. I believe one of the options is Navionics. You may have to restart the graph after making the change to the settings before it'll read your map chip.

I have a 28cHD too and had problems loading my LakeMaster chip until I remembered that it needed to be enabled in the Map Data menu. They are not plug-n-play as some say.
