Have you ever noticed that when your staring at perch or crappie on the vex and your doing everything humanly possible to entice a strike and they just won't take it that if you lay the lure just on the bottom allot of those finicky perch will pick it up.. I have also tried do this with crappie and I don't even have to touch bottom with the lure...say I am looking at a school of crappie suspended 8 ft off the bottom I drop it quickly 2 or 3' below them then steadily not too fast raise it back up through the school one will surely take it whereas if I keep it at their original level and raise it the same way it is not nearly as effective. Now I can understand with the perch thing because I assume the think some critter is coming out of the mud but, the crappie deal kind of has me baffled. Any one else have this experience, any theories?
btw whoever posted the info about the iespellchecker download, thanks a bunch now I don't have to look like such a moron with my poor spelling!

The old rule is fish look up not down.
Ive always felt fish dont like anything coming UP to them. If I have a finicky fish I pull the bait up a foot or two and try and get them to chase me. Keep comin up till it gets a strike. Most strikes happen as the bait drops down to the fish. Either way its a game I like to play and cant wait to get it on. smile.gif

I geuss I need to clarify my ??? a little. What I should have said is when the old lift and chase is not seeming to entice a strike from the school below you I have found that if I just drop it down a couple of feet below them and then bring it back through the school steadily it will often times get a response. Anyone else noticed this and if you have why do you think dropping it below their sight line first triggers a response?
