building a house

Has anyone out there made a fishhouse on retractable skis? I am planning on building a 8x12 house, and I have a lake lot to store it on in the summer but would like to raise it up about a foot while towing it and lower it down while using it in the winter. Also what was used for the ski material.

Thanks, Kevin

If youre going to go that far why not put it on wheels, then you can tow it anywhere you want to fish.

How are you planning on doing this? The first thing that comes to my mind would be to build a frame out of tubing around the house that is raised by the hand type cranks like on a wheel house (imagine it like a wheel house and boat lift put together), where you would use a pin system to keep it up when towing. Not sure about the specifics on it but thats what comes to mind other than just taking a wheel house trailer and building a bracket for the skis that bolts onto the hub. But again, why not just use wheels?

For the skis, I see lots with tubing as the skis. or you can use old skis or make your own out of wood.

The reason for no wheels is that the house will stay at the lake permanently. Used for water toys in the summer and fishing in the winter. Will be using my wheeler or snowmobile to pull it with. That is the reason for no wheels, skis would work better if we get any snow.
