Smallies in the Metro

I am looking for some good smallmouth shorefishing spots around the twin cities. I have done a little fishing on the Rum and the Mississippi... but seeing as how they are big waterways I often don't even know where to start. I'm in St. Paul so add the St. Croix as a possibility too I guess.

Any suggestions out there for a new guy? Thanks!

you can always join the party down at the confluence minnihaha creek and the mississippi. Lots of fish caught down there. Sound pretty close to you too.
