bluebacked herring

has anyone fished a lake with these in it? i watched a tourney a few weeks ago(forget what one). and the action was awesome. i heard a story of a pro visiting a baitshop with a friend. the baitshop had a 10 pounder in a large aquarium. the pro asked the owner to feed it but it had just been fed. to oblige the pro, he threw in a shad.nuthin.

next a large shiner.nuthin. 'iif he won't eat this, he won't eat anything' the owner said. threw in a blueback and WHAM. the bass attacked it, killed it, then spit it out. i am curious why lakes are introducing these fish. my theory is they are trying to fatten up there bass to draw attention from california monsters. i think the good ole boys don't want to see the record fall to a california boy. i call it the jeff gordon effect
