Fished pool 2 yesterday evening and early night and did fairly well for little channels, but they all looked really sick. Every fish had a bad case of black spot disease, anybody else ever see such a thing? I have heard the disease is from too many fish in a small area and the fish will clear up after they move area from the area.

How little were these channels? They have black spots when there young and they go away as they get older. Not sure if those could be the spots your talking about though.

Thats what I was wondering. Small channel cats have black spots on them. The spots disappear as they grow older.

Possibley riggers of spawing! I noticed channles were a little slimmer than normal, the other weekend up in the Mississippi North. Also they had open round sores (blood red in them). We noticed sores on a couple of fish and skinniness on all of them.

These were all under 12 inches, we could keep them off our worms (I guess if we want bigger fish, we need bigger bait!) So it sounds like it wasn't a disease and small channels have spots, huh? I guess I learn something new everyday
