art321
I've got some copper river salmon and want to do it on the grill with the cedar planks. I've got some cedar decking planks that I used for my deck that were purchased at Menards. Does anyone know if it is safe to grill on these. I'd call them but I'm assuming they are closed today. Thanks.
Whoaru99
Should be OK as long as it's not treated - that's the million-dollar question.
art321
Well that's obviously why I was asking if anyone knew if it was safe. Is it treated? Anyone know? I called Menards and they're all gone in building materials. I'll put it off another day and call them tomorrow.
Whoaru99
Obviously there is no way I can know for 100% certain whether or not it is treated. Are you willing to take anyones opinion, or just better off to play it safe? No disrespect to the Menards staff in general, but not sure anyone you talk to at a local store is going to know 100% sure either.
art321
I'm definitely with you on the Menards staff deal. I thought I had read on here that some had done this. You're probably right not to take the chance. It just seems a waste to spend so much on a board from some fancy cooking shop that is just a board like one from Menards. Scott K
I think the cheapest bet for getting some cedar boards would be just call a saw mill, and have them get you a couple, then you know it isnt treated.
