taylors falls

I went to taylors falls today on the bike and took a rest at that little pull off on 8 right before town, its closed now but a bike can fit on the shoulder. I noticed all the trails and climbers from the rock I perched on for a while. How many miles of trails are there and is there campsites around? Never been hiking but I'm headed there this weekend, any and all info would be awesome! Oh yah .... what kind of fish are in the river there?

Check out Interstate Park, it's right before Taylors Falls. There is almost every kind of fish in the river that you can think of. Smallmouth? Yep. Walleye and sauger? Yep. Northern? Yep. Catfish? Yep. Just about anything that's also in Mississippi.

If you want more miles of hiking, I'd try Wild River State Park upstream from Taylors Falls. Lots of campsites but I'm not too sure how many will be available this close to the Fourth. I've seen quite a few people fishing from shore near the Nevers Dam site. Never noticed any one catch anything, however.

You could also try the North end of Wild River State Park. Right by the public landing at the Sunrise River. There is at least one hike in/boat in campsite about a mile north of the landing. Plenty of people fish in this area and even I managed to catch a few.
