Homemade Climbing Stick/Ladder

Thought about getting an extra cheap hang-on this year to add to my ladder stand and blinds but not sure if I want a to pony up on a climbing stick which might be more than the stand itself. Does anyone make their own ladder/climbing stick out of treated lumber? I have a bunch of it around and could afford to toss after a few season as to not worry about rotting/safety. Any ideas are appreciated.

I've used the ones in snapcrackpop's picture. They are really easy to put up and even easier to take down, but are somewhat bulky to carry to the stand. Also, sometimes the wood will twist making the steps somewhat trickier to use. Overall though, I like them.
