lately my 11 month old lab has been eating grass. I've heard a couple differant opinions on this and was seening if you guys could clear this up for me. Is it something to be concerned about or is this natural. I've heard stomach ache to worms to its normal. I've seen alot of dogs do this but would like some sound answers.

all dogs will eat grass from time to time. Usually have an upset stomach for whatever reason. Vet says grass may act as a bit of a laxative for them.

My dogs throw up after eating grass, so I correct them since

I don't want to clean the mess in the house. I was told it

wasn't good for them, not the laxitive part.

I haven't heard of the constipated angle but could be. I've always been told it is an ancestor thing of eating all that they catch including the plants and grasses their catch ate. My dogs will find the tall grass and eat it they have vomited before but not that often. Would still rather clean that up then hairballs. laugh.gif

My 5 month old lab eats grass all the time and I can tell you she is not constipated!! Go out to feed her in the morning and there will be a spot in her kennel that she threw up some grass over the course of the night. I too agree that it's normal and as long as there is no blood or obvious signs of sickness, so be it.
