slippery wood steps when wet, what to do?

I built some steps outside a couple years back with treated lumber and when it rains, theses babies get slick. I've thought of staining them and spreading some fine sand on the stain before it dries but that sounds a little risky to me. I think it would be tough to spread the sand consistently. Any ideas out there? The steps have never been stained in any way, except for the green treated. Thanks

Them sand tape patches, they stick onto the wood, and have the sand on the other side, like on boat trailers. They dont stick to wood the greatest, but are cheap, so if you need to apply a new one, they are about a $1 a piece.
