Bike Trail Info

Hello....We are planing on being in the Hackensack area the middle of Aug for a week and was wondering if it would be worth it to take the bikes with us. Are There any good family trails in the area ??

definetly worth it. the paul bunyan trail is very nice, both directions, and there is a nice parking lot in hackensack right off of the trail

I agree, Hackensack is a great place for bikes. We will be up there the week of the 11th of August, staying on Birch Lake. This is the 5th year to the same resort, we ride our bikes everywhere. The grocery store, bait store, the ice cream shop too. The bike trail is great, it's 16 miles ot Walker and 8 miles to Backus and so on going south down the trail. Last year, I put 140 miles on the bike in a week. If you are staying on Birch, there are usually crappies to be had also.

Do a search on the Paul Bunyan Trail, they do have a HSOforum with maps and distances.

Awesome !!!! We will be there the same week, 11th to 18th. We are staying on Webb Lake. We will be sure to take the bikes.

You should have a nice time on the Bunyan trail, and Webb lake is tough to beat for lots of northern pike action.

The Hackensack/Walker area is one of the most under used, undiscovered biking areas around. We've got great paved trails through beautiful lake country, with all degrees of difficulty for both bikes and roller bladers. I live here and work for the Forest Service and do alot of trail riding. We're pretty spoiled here.

I guess I'm letting the secret out! Enjoy the area!!
