riverwader
I am curious what people are doing for compost bins. I have a one acre lot with 20 or so trees. I would like to start a compost pile for all the leaves, lawn scraps and plants during the spring cleanup. Any suggestions on what works the best and how large I should go. I was thinking of doing something likea small pen out of treated decking with some gaps or holes in it for venting. I dont really have a clue. Any help? IFallsRon
Last one I made was had a frame of cedar fence posts and wrapped with 4-foot chain link fence. When the compost was ready, I'd tip over the whole thing and shovel from the bottom.
spudhauler
I made a box out of standard wood shipping pallets, wrapped the outside with mesh wire. It is not pretty and can be a pain if you want to "turn it over" but the price was right and it works for me.
