slick2526
Crappies- weather fair. Jb tackle lunar grub jig, white colored in 1/64 with 4lb fireline, a small crappie minnow. with a ice buster bobber cut down to the approprate size. IF finnese jigging is the only way you can get them to bite i like a 24 in noodle rod, with 3lb trilene ice line and marmooska jig or a lunar grub jig with a waxie or small crappie minnow. Big crappies- glow in the dark white/pink scenic tackle angel eye jr. I think its the best lure made in my opinion. sunfish.- same as above but with wax worms.walleyes- jigging rapalas, jb weasel, and angel eye and angel eye jr spoons. Also does any one know any custom rod builders that can me a cust noodle rod for like 1/64oz to a 1/32oz weight? I believe also that custom jigs n spins are comming out with a new jigging spoon. Guest
Slick2526, if I remember right I believe that Thorn Bro's has a pretty decent rod for light jigs. As far as hot lures goes, here's my two cents:Crappies and gills: My number one choice in most situations would have be Custom Jigs n Spins. Two-spots are my favorite. Red, orange, green glow, and mustard colors. They have a slow motion fall that seems to not only draw in fish but initiate the strike as well. When tipped with euro larvae they are deadly. There are times where larger jigs are needed and other times when dead sticking a minnow works too. But, most of my success comes off of two-spots and other small tear drop jigs.Perch: One-inch jigging spoons packed with maggots is the way to go on larger bodies of water like Mille Lacs and Devil's Lake. They provide a lot of action and vibration which will draw in perch from a distance and once they see the bait they will take it if they are hungry. Sometimes it is necessary to drop down a small horizontal jig tipped with a minnow or maggot when the fish are less active. Walleyes: Standard, typical jigging spoons and swimming lures seem to be the most productive. I prefer Kastmasters and pimples but most jigging spoons will do the trick. I also like to drop down swimming rapalas tipped with a minnow head or tail. Whenever I'm stationary I'll punch two holes and drop down a gold jig head tipped with a lively minnow beneath a dead stick while I jig out of the other hole.Pike: Quick strike rigs tipped with shiners and flyers tipped with fatheads. When I tip-up fish I like to drop down a quick strike rig tipped with about a four to seven-inch shiner. Sucker minnows are another option. When jigging I like to use either an airplane jig or a Systems Tackle flyer tipped with a medium fathead.Well, I like to try a lot of different presentations but those are my prefered ones. Hoped some of this info helped.Good Fishin, Matt.
