Finlander
My brother tells me it's insects in the lawn making it that way. I think it's just the lack of rain. But now other parts of the lawn is green so what gives?
hotrod1
stick a shovel in the ground where it is brown. then you should see if you have insects or if its dry. it is common to have what is referred to as localized dry spots (areas of the lawn that tend to dry easy)
Powerstroke
Another thing that may be starting to show is snow mold and other fungal disorders. They develop in the spring when its moist and the grass is matted down. Now we are into the season a bit and the fungus starts to cause damage to the lawn with the heat. Localized dry spots are normal, but i would consult someone before applying any chemicals for bugs or disease. For many disease problems a shot of fertilizer will clear it up.
