Duck Boat Advice

I just brought a duckboat, its a 14' starcraft, but I have no idea what year it is, but the DNR sticker says 1967, but I don't think it is anywhere near a 1967 as the stern is not so rounded on the sides like those old aluminum boats, and it has those angle support brackets for the transom.

First order of business is a repaint job.

Is there some sort of paint stripper that I can to use to strip the old paint off, there are two colors, OD Green and the original color of white. Aluminum is soft so I dont want to put a hole through it using a wire brush on a drill or grinder.

Second order of business, I need to replace the seats.

What kind of affordable wood can I use for the seats with a satin, non-reflective marine finish. Pine?

I have a planer though so I can plane them down to 3/4 of a inch.

Regular paint stripper and a heat gun work good to remove the old paint. I would use some exterior grade AC plywood for your seats. Pine probably wouldnt last too long and would want to cup and warp using it in duck hunting weather.

If the paint isnt peeling just do a light sanding & paint.For the seats do some research on Mahogany.Most plys are made of soft wood exterior glue or not it wont last long.With the exception of a few.
