Engine mount trolling motor

I have a buddy that purchased a pontoon and he wants to mount a trolling motor to the motor. The problem is that I don't think the motor sits far enough in the water for it to work.

Minn Kota's HSOforum says that there needs to be 13" from the cavitation plate. Is there any other mounting options?

The outboard mounted trolling motor is not a great choice on a pontoon. Outboards just do not sit down low to the water when mounted on pontoon transoms. They are notorious for cavitating problems. Best to get a long shaft bow mount.

I think minnkota has the e drive, which is designed for pontoons. I have also seen bowmount style trolling motors mounted on pontoons. The e drive is a stern mount.
