htgeren
I've got a rather large and unruly silver maple in my yard and was wondering if its too late in the year to trim off some of the branches? Any thoughts?

Sergeant Slabber
I just had mine trimmed way up on Monday. This is a tree that can pretty much be trimmed anytime of year. You should be just fine.
Flash
I was always told you should only trim in months with a "R" in them. Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec.
DRH1175
Like Said Silver maples are like weeds. Trimming now would not be an issue. You could probably cut 90% of the branches off now and it would still be fine. Go ahead. There are some trees that are fussy and I would say no. Like oaks. Silver Maples (soft maples) are not one of them to worry about.

Powerstroke
Maples are safe to trim year round. There is a slight chance of damaging them in mid summer but I've never seen it happen.
Abrams
Can I trim a honey locus now? I have a few limbs that are out of hand. That thing has 3 feet of new growth already this year.
