Recommended Posts

This after noon I would fish in 5 feet of water on the north side of the lake with a sucker minnow. The pike are in there feeding on small panfish,Thats what they seem to be doing on the lakes down here in hibbing!Good Luck!! smile.gifsmile.gif

Didn't have time to get bait last night. Fished the Northern side and caught 2 nice pike 35" and 26" in 6 to 10 feet of water on blue/chartruese 1/2 oz spinnerbait with tandem willow nickel blades. Good enough for first place on league night. Also caught 6 or 7 bass biggest being 18 in and a crappie.

Thats true, on league night if we are having a tough time with the bass we usually will troll the weedline and at least pick up some pike. I personally don't care what I catch, as long as it goes TUG TUG on my line i'm happy. I release 99% of the game fish anyways.

Thanks for the tips and the responses!

Well I wouldn't want to go into a livewell grin.gif.

By the way, one pike I caught was near a school of bait fish that we marked in around 9 ft.

Your pike are going to go where many fatty food sources are easily available then hang out somewhere warm...spawning minnows in the shallows sounds like a good place to me. It would be like us sitting in the sun on the front lawn and having pizza delivered in between naps after a long night out.
